Default Caribbean Beach Questions

Greetings all,

I just booked my first trip to Disney World (for my mom and me), and I
chose the Caribbean Beach resort. A couple of friends at work had
stayed there a couple of years ago, and thye enjoyed it. As I like to
do research, I have been reading various reviews about the resort, and
like anything else, there are sharply contrasting opinions. Some
guests seemed to love it hand had a geat time, others hated it and had
a miserable time.

Here's my situation. I am 43 years old and legally blind (visually
impaired is a more fitting descriptiopn), so I don't drive. My mom is
76 and doesn't drive either.

Wht are your experiences (and experiences of people you know) with the
resort?

Most important is the cleanliness of the rooms? Again, some people
raved about the clean rooms, while others had dirty rooms.

Which buildings/sections are closest to the bus stops to get to the
main parks? I don't mind a good walk, but for my mom, a long walk may
not be that great. I read there is a shuttle - does the shuttle stop
by each building?

I booked the trip through the disney website, but if I have specific
questions/requests as far as the hotel is concerned, do I call
caribbean beach directly?

Any advise, answers, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Al

We just got back from there last week. We enjoyed the resort. We
stayed in Barbados, which was about a 3 minute walk to custom house
(checkin/out place) and about 10 minute walk to Port Royale (food/
souvies etc)

Looking at the map they provide on checkin you are best to request
ground floor, (no elevators) at either Martinique building 26 or
Trinidad North Building 31. These give you best access to Port Royale
and a bus stop. All bus stops are close to the buildings, but those 2
buildings look best for you, less walking and easy access.

Our room was clean and that was with 2 adults and 2 teens. When you
check in they will drive you to your building and bell services will
assist with luggage if you haven't chose magical express. There is
internal bus service as well.

I do not have a phone number for them, but phoning Disney themselves
shouldn't pose a problem, just not toll free! I emailed them a
question before leaving and had a response within a day.

I miss it already!

We were there a couple of years ago Aticineto, and really enjoyed it. The
rooms are just slightly larger than at the other moderate resorts, and ours
was very clean. As Dawn mentioned, depending on which building you're in,
there can be about a 10 minute or so walk to the food court, souvenir shop,
etc. It's a large resort, so take advantage of the internal shuttle
service. If I remember correctly, there was a cast member that drives
around the resort in a golf cart that holds about 6 people. They'll stop
and pick you up and you can then get off at the destination you want as
well. (You can't call ahead for a ride. You just have to be on the
walkways as the cart drives by). I think there are numerous shuttle stops
for the parks, so your walk from your room to one of those stops shouldn't
be too far.

Enjoy yourselves!

Default Caribbean Beach questons

Hi Al,

Was at CBR for a week 2 years ago and had a wonderful time. The only thing I
can say is that my kids were running around the room in clean new white
socks and after 2 minutes the socks were dirty and brown on the bottoms. I
was told that is a cleaner/disinfectant they use on the carpets in between
guests. I didn't mind it THAT much, just didn't let the kids lie on the
floor. That being my only complaint, the rest of the week was wonderful.
Dining was typical Disney, Good, filling, was brown and hot and plenty of
it, but if your looking for 4 stars, look elsewhere on campus. Pools were a
lot of fun. Big pool was loud and lots of hustle bustle for the kids, but
the quiet pools were just that. Clean and quiet. Grounds were immaculate
for a nice quiet evening walk.

In all, 3 stars.

You have a GREAT time man.
