Default accomodations in NYC this weekend (arriving 6 May)

the wife and i are heading up from Washington, DC this weekend via Amtrak.
we decided to go somewhat spontaneously, and don't have accomodations yet. i
know it's mother's day weekend, and wonder how much of a problem it might be
to get a room off of priceline or other methods. we travel to NYC
frequently. this time we are coming simply for a weekend getaway and plan on
taking in a restaurant or two.

we're not rich by any means, but don't mind spending ~$200+ per night for a
room. when i travel with the fellas, we usually stay at the Hotel
Pennsylvania; fine place for the fellas, but i won't take the wife there...

we've stayed at the flatotel, the marriott (the big one in times
square), and some other smallish boutique hotel i forget the name of on 47th
st, i think.

anyway i am really concerned that mother's day may pose a problem in terms
of room availability. anyone have any hunches/ideas/experiences as to
whether or not priceline will be able to accomodate us? we definitely want
to stay in midtown. or at least the area bounded by 45th and 55th, and along
6th, 7th, or 8th -- OK i guess that's a big area.

Mother's Day won't pose a problem. You should have no problems finding
a pretty nice room on Priceline for $200.
