| | Guest | CA roadtrip, cheap lodging suggestions please Hi all,
I'll be making a solo road trip in two weeks from San Francisco to
SoCal while visiting the Yosemite, Death Valley, and Joshua Tree
national parks. I was hoping if someone could provide input as to the
cheapest housing options (fleabag motels, hostels appreciated) short
of camping out that are near these national parks so that I can drive
in and out of the parks from my accomodation without an excessive
commute (less than 1 hour) and still leave an appreciable amount of
time to sightsee and hike etc. If you can provide the names of these
hotels/motels/hostels that would be awesome, or the names of the
roads/routes/freeways of which I can find a potential smorgasboard of
dirt cheap housing. I want to say something for less than $50 a night
but that seems insanely low in Cali, but hey, let me know if they
exist. Thanks | |

Well, if you stay away from the tourist areas (such as near national parks)
you may get cheaper rates. For example I have seen Motel 6's for less than
$50. But these are not close to national parks. Motels make their money
during the summer tourist months. You are unlikely to find discounts. Try
biddingfortravel.com to see what other people have been able to get on
Priceline.
BTW, Cali is a city in Columbia. The state is CA or Calif. | |

| | Guest | CA roadtrip, cheap lodging suggestions please Thank you for the headsup on the motel rates. When you say not close,
do you mean more than an hour's drive on the major roads leading to
Yosemite?
