I have found Missouri to be a very interesting state and would like to
spend more time there, can anyone list some interesting or that other
word that I like to use"unique" places to visit? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
St. Charles is a lovely town with some great restaurants and shops and a lot
of history (including, last time I checked), the Goldenrod Showboat which is
one of the last authentic "showboats" in existance.
Springfield has Bass Pro Shops, which is great (we go there at least twice a
month)! They also have a museum there, which I haven't gone to because I
don't fancy dead, stuffed animals. But I am told it is very interesting
albeit pricey at something like $17 per person.
Yes, there is Branson, which a fun place to go if you like music and
buffets!. What most people don't realize is that Ozark, which is about 12
miles North of Branson is well known for its many antique stores.
You might want to contact the Missouri Department of Tourism and find out
what local events are going to be going on when you are planning to visit.
There are so many wonderful festivals and fun things going on (like apple
butter days), happening on a regional basis.
Another fun thing to do is take a trip down Route 66 around Joplin. Lots of
the old gas stations, hotels and other businesses hearken back to a gentler
era.
Missouri has a lot of wonderful things to see and do!
