I'm sorry - been on vacation in Mexico, so haven't responded...
Outriggers are usually pretty basic tourist standard hotels - although
the Outrigger Maui is one of their (much) better properties. It
attracts a lot of families and, as I remember, from walking past is
every am when I am in Wailea, does not have a beach - only rocks - but
good beaches (& snorkelling) not too far away. From what I have seen
from the outside, the grounds, pool furniture, patio furniture,
outside of rooms do not seem to be kept up all that well. However, I
do love Wailea & there is a lot to do there & on the rest of the
island.
The Kauai Marriott is all suites (major bonus!!), newer, on a lovely
lagoon, which is a bonus, as ocean swimming in Kauai can often be
treacherous - just a prettier, more upscale property. But... I feel
there is less to do on Kauai. If you want major relaxing, this is it
for you. If you want more restaurant & activity choices, then I'd go
with Maui. Does this help?
