Hi,

I'm planning to visit Texas. If you guys could give me advices, tips
tricks, places not to miss...
Are there any interesting websites ?
I'd like also to know the best period (month or season) to go there.

Thanks in advance,

NOT in July or August. I wish I didn't live here then.
San Antonio is the best big city to visit.

We visited Texas (Houston in particular) in March/April this year. We were
visiting family and didn't have a choice what time of year. The weather was
great the whole time we were there. T shirts and jeans weather and it did
not rain for the 14 days we were there.

We went to the space centre and San Jacinta on day trips, we were there at
the time of the Rodeo which was great.

Weekends our son and daughter-in-law took us to San Antonio and Austin. We
loved San Antonio. We were there for the re-enactment of the battle of the
Alamo so that was special. We learnt a lot of history that weekend. Had
Saturday night dinner and Sunday Lunch on the Riverwalk. (The river was
green for St Patrick's day).

Next weekend we went to Austin and Fredericksburg. Had a tour of the
capitol building and walked down 6th? Street. Fredericksburg was a small
town with lots of history and antiques.

All in all we loved our time in Texas, but Houston is certainly not a
tourist spot.

I cannot find any hotel of that name. It is possible that it is a condo
complex that rents rooms. Another possibility is that it has been
renamed recently. There is a hotel Galvez that has been redone since I
have been there. It is about 90 years old and in a nice location. The
beach, however, is across a six lane street and a 20 foot drop off over
the concrete sea wall. They have replenished the beach in the past few
years so it's not bad. The water is western Gulf and thus very sandy.
No visibility near shore. If it is a condo complex out of town it may
actually be on the beach.
