Default Long Term Car rental?

Is there anywhere around the bay area or Sacramento that rents cars by
the month? I found supercheapcar.com in Los Angeles that rents a 2
door newer Chevy Metro type car for $699 per month including tax and
insurance, but it will be to big of a hassle to drive 7 hours to pick
up and drop off the car.
They have older cars they rent for as low as $599 per month (including
the taxes and insurance), but those cannot be driven out of the local
LA metro area.
I'd like to find someplace in northern California with rates as good
or better.

I just finished a an Intermediate rental with Hertz at SFO for 4 weeks
for $515 all fees/taxes included. Dollar had the same rate. So once a month
drop the car and rent again for a month - not that hard. Also credit
card insurance won't cover more than 30 days (check-some are only 2 weeks)

Base rate was $ 115/wk before fees/tax
