It is touristy, but the Canadian National Exhibition will be running during
the period of your visit. You should be able to find something to interest
you.

Excellent advice on visiting the neighborhoods (and eating in them, of course).
Last time I was in Toronto I had a few hours to kill before a flight and it
was raining.....so I went to the Bata Shoe Museaum (it was near my hotel). I
was actually taken by surprise at how fun and interesting it was. A few hours
well spent. You might also want to visit the Toronto foodie ng <tor.eats> for
the name of a few places to eat. They really know their food and haven't led
me awry yet.

Thanks for all the great info everybody. This was much
more (and better) than I expected. It's a lot to digest,
but I'll try to pick and choose wisely when I read the posts
again...I just hope I have enough *time* to enjoy some of these
places you've told me about. Thanks again.

My brother went back after a too brief first visit and came back the
second time feeling the same way you do. He's never been to Chinatown
but he said that Lai Wah Heen restaurant was a disappointment.

I think it always helps to go with someone fun and just relax and not
expect too much which is how he did it the first time.
