Default New York City Area: Motels near MetroNorth Railroad (or NJ Transit)

We will be in the New York City area in September and would like to
stay within 25 or 30 miles of Manhattan and travel in on MetroNorth
Railroad (or New Jersey Transit) Can anyone recommend a newer Comfort
Inn of Super 8 type motel that would be within walking distance of a
commuter rail station?

Thanks, Kevin.

There are motels on North Bergen in Jersey City,
a short walk from the bus through the Lincoln Tunnel.

Pick up the Traveler Discount book en route for
more details.

Secure parking in NYC cost us $22- a day last time
we were there. And $100- a day for the hotel.

Jersey City motels can be had for $60- a night,
with free parking.

We will be in the New York area for a couple of days and plan to
travel into the city to see a ball game. After that, on to Ohio. It's
more convenient for us to stay outside of the city.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn, at Fort Lee. $1.50 bus ride over the GW Bridge
into Manhattan, although that puts you quite far north, the subway is right
there to take you downtown. Rates was UK£41.50/night when booking 21 days in
advance. I stayed there as it had free parking and meant I didn't have to
drive in NYC itself.
