Default Stopover?

I am looking at a Delta flight that involves an 21 hour connection at JFK.
The conditions on the flight are "no stop overs" but surely I'll be
"allowed" to leave the airport and stay at a hotel for that time? I can't
believe that I'll be required to stay in the airport overnight!

It's an internal US flight then a flight to the UK (I'm a UK national).
Delta's web site is offering me the 21 hours connection. So the 24 hour rule
means this is not a stop over?

Right, the stopover regardless of time interval is NOT your request but a
sales offering.

An interesting arrangement. Curious, what is the flight itinerary? s

Because if he doesn't have a US passport, he can't leave the airport, which
makes the whole question mute.

Yeah, sorry. I was thinking 'visa' . Thanks for catching that -- just
because my brain is thinking it doesn't mean my fingers are going to process
it correctly.
