Default Quiet place to spend Memorial Day?

I'd suggest that you contact the main offices of some of the parks in
that region and ask for suggestions. If anyone knows of secluded spots
like that, it would be the people who actually work there.

Considering your tight timeframe, I'd phone rather than email them.
The official sites of the various parks always list phone numbers.

Default Quiet place to spend Memorial Day?

We're going mountain biking in Jim Thorpe, PA.

Same with our beloved California Gobernator, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Calif is in serious deficit, and the Gobernator is proposing to solve
the problem, as usual, on the backs of the less fortunate,
the schools, the parks, medical care -- everything that makes
people's lives a little richer.

Aside: Because the Bushies have whipped up people's "security" fears
-- abetted by the hysterical media -- in order to retain control,
there is now an actual proposal to let people carry concealed weapons
in parks! Picture the shoot-out at the next camp site, while your
children cower in their tent!
