Insurance for car bought aboard

Hello.
I'm a Romanian which planned for quite some time to do a road trip
from Canada to Argentina. My intention is to buy the car in Canada/US
however I do not know what are the insurance options for such thing;
Canadian insurance companies do not seem to be able to insure the car
as I do not have Canadian residency or citizenship.
So, my question: Is it possible to buy a car in Canada/US without
being a citizen/resident of these countries and somehow have the car
insured too? What are my options?!

Serban, you can buy a car here, but you won't be able to get license
plates unless you have a permanent U.S. address. And insurance would
probably be difficult to obtain also since you don't have a U.S.
address and also because any insurance company would want to check
your driving record and there wouldn't be one since you haven't driven
in the U.S. previously.
