| | Guest | Limit on carry-on's Looking at the TSA web site, there is a limit on the amount of liquid,
which should be kept in one plastic zip loc bag, and one plastic bag
per person.
What if the contents are not liquid? I am carrying some medicine
(pill form) in a zip loc bag. Can I have another zip loc bag for my
liquids in my carry on? | |

The zip loc with the liquid has to be separated from the carryon. Your
other zip locs may rest at ease.

Becaue they need to be in some kind of container. The containers they
came in (small round plastic boxes) are bulky and the pills in them
make a lot of noise. I don't want to take my entire prescription,
just enough for the trip. So there is a need to carry these pills in
their separate containers. A sandwich size zip loc bag is perfect.

As far as I know, there's no limit on the number of ziploc bags you
can have, just a limit (one) on the number of ziploc bags containing
liquids (or creams or gels).

Incidentally, I have more than once forgotten to separate the ziploc
bag with the liquids, and have never had a problem. Apparently nobody
noticed.
I'm not suggesting that anyone do this, and I don't plan on purposely
doing it myself, but I found it interesting that I got away with it.

One suggestion -- if your pills aren't in their original prescription
boxes, write down the info on the labels, along with your doctor's
phone number. The info would be useful if you should lose the pills or
have a medical emergency.
Incidentally, I take several prescriptions and instead of putting all
my pills in one bag when travelling, I use some very small bags (about
the size of a packet of sugar) that I found at an office supply store,
and put one day's pills in each bag, labelled with the date I'll take
them. Helps me to keep track of whether I've taken that day's pills or
not, as it's easy to forget on a trip when you're not following your
regular routine.
