Another guy -me- thinks it's an interesting question. How about if
somebody tells us about the quality of the road(s)?

I'm more interested in routes from the west. What kinds of vehicle
should a person use to drive to the Bay?

John

Default driving to Hudson Bay?

Check out
James Bay Highway in Quebec.. This highway will get you you to James
Bay. The highway travels North to a Cree Community called Chisasibi

Chisasibi is located on the Eastern shore of James Bay, and is home to
over 3,300. A 90km paved road connects Chisasibi to the Route de la
Baie James (James Bay Road). Chisasibi airport is located west of the
community, with Air Creebec operating scheduled flights to and from
the community. From Chisasbi you will need to connect to
Whapmagoostui. The northernmost community Whapmagoostui is located at
the mouth of the Great Whale River on the coast of Hudson Bay and has
a population of 778 people. Although Whapmagoostui is geographically
isolated with no access road to the South, the Internet and other
telecommunications technology link to the outside world. Residents
also enjoy access to modern facilities such as, an arena, gymnasium,
swimming pool, health clinic and an elementary and secondary school
and a variety of businesses and stores. Two airlines, Air Creebec and
Air Inuit, service the community.

No - plain as oppose to mountain or desert. You know - as in amber plains
of grain.

Umm ... probably not. Spring is better known as "Break-up", when ice
and snow are melting, causing local flooding and leaving a sea of mud
and potholes in all directions. Better wait until that "season" is
past! Get local advice by phone first.
