Default Planning a one-day stop between Niagara Falls and Chicago

Hi folks,

part of our trip includes a stop at Niagara Falls (2 and 3 Aug) and a
stop at Chicago (5, 6, 7 Aug). Our idea is to split the Niagara Falls to
Chicago transfer in two smaller steps, visiting and sleeping somewhere
in between the 4 Aug.
It'd seem simple, but we've some few constraints:

1 - We travel by car (4 people).
2 - The 4 Aug is the birthday of one of the travellers and then we MUST
celebrate!!!
3 - One traveller expects a baby (3rd month) and for the second step she
prefers to move to Chicago by airplane.
4 - We'd avoid to stop at huge cities like Detroit.

Could someone solve such puzzle?!?

Thanks a lot

Marco

Battle Creek, Michigan - World Headquarters of Kellogg Company -- plant
and museum tours - see how corn flakes and other cereal products are
made;

A nice small town, with many civic buildings donated by Kellogg -- see
who's performing at the Kellogg Arena on your night.

Nothing wrong with Battle Creek, but have you been there lately?
Kellogg's plant tours ended 20 years ago.

I tend to agree. But, different strokes for different folks. As I
recall, back when it was running, Kellogg's plant tour was the number
2 tourist destination in Michigan, trailing only the Ford museum in
Dearborn.
