Default Passing through Canada - A Customs Question!

Hi,

I'm flying soon from the U.S (where I'm currently visiting) to Canada,
where I'll be staying briefly (< 3 days) before finally heading to my
home country of Luxembourg. While in the U.S, I've purchased some
rather expensive gifts for my family back home (a laptop, digital
camera, a golden bracelet, etc.). I'll be carrying these items with me
to Canada - but I'm worried about customs while going to Canada. Is
there a way to declare, or clarify that these items will be with me in
Canada for only the short duration of my stay there (< 3 days). Thank
you for any information or suggestions you might offer.

Thanks a lot,
Roy

It might be a good idea to have your receipts for them when you're
leaving Canada, as proof that you didn't purchase them in Canada.

Thank you all for the valuable feedback. That really helped me. What
I'll do -for my own peace of mind- is prepare the form E29B in advance
(mentioned in the link that Mark mentioned), and have it with me in
case the customs officers were albit too thorough in their search.

The whole point of having the form is that you aren't waiting for them
to search your baggage! You are ASSISTING them in doing their job --
and THEY LIKE THAT!
