Default Atlanta/Alabama

I've got a weekend in Atlanta in early February. Been there before so I'm
thinking I might get out of the city. I'll be staying in the Galleria
area.

It's not too far to the Alabama border and it's not a state I've visited
before (I've been to TN and SC) so I am thinking "why not?".

Any suggestions for either a day trip or even a one night weekend (it will
actually be Sunday and Monday)? I like the outdoors, photography, trains
and planes.

Of course he said that he liked the outdoors & photography. You did
mention across the mountains. Now they are small mountains but they are
fairly pretty.
