Default What's open Thanksgiving?

I'm driving east to west cross- country and by Thanksgiving Day I may
be in Oklahoma or northern Texas. All the museums and attractions (in
the tourguides) seem to be closed on that day. What to do? Will I be
able to buy gas? And dinner? (please don't say McDonald's)

Most businesses are closed on Thanksgiving, but some gas stations and
fast food restaurants in busy areas (like next to interstates) will
probably be open, and most convenience stores will probably be open.
And as another poster suggested, hotel restaurants may also be open.
But your choices will definitely be limited on that day.

Almost all gas stations will be open, even well off
Interstates. You can of course snack at many of those.
Some fast food places will be open, some not. Few non-fast
food restaurants will be open except along Interstates, in
big hotels, and randomly. Eben some fast-food chains may be
closed, but most are not closed Thanksgiving.

having worked at a gas station located five miles from I-91 in
massachusetts I can tell you that some poor sucker is going to be
running a register and/or pumping gas at just about every station.
Some smaller privately owned car repair/gas will be closed, but all the
corporate gas/convienance will be open. As for food, I think even a
lot of fast food places will close. Many will open for
breakfast(dunkin donuts, etc) but will close around the time most
people are home working on a buzz with the inlawas watching football.
