Default Prince Edward Island in July

I'm taking my family (wife, 13 year old daughter and 15 year old son)
to PEI in July. We'll be staying near Waterside on Pownal Bay, an
older farmhouse on the Bay, called Waterside Farm. I haven't been able
to find out much about this area on the Internet or travel books. I
hoped someone might help me with 4 questions about the area:

1. What is that PEI area like there on the South of the Island?
Sounds pretty remote.

2. Is Pownal Bay a nice place to swim in (not too cold in July)?

3. How is the inland fishing around there?

4. We had a cabin on Lake Superior last summer and the insects ate us
alive. Bugs I've never even SEEN before were all over us whenever we
were outside (repellent didn't faze these guys). How bad are the
biters in PEI? I thought I'd ask this one for my wife & kids. Another
experience like last year and I'll be in the "doghouse" for a while :-)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

We were there a few years ago in July and had no problem with biters. If
Waterside is anywhere near Pownal, you're just south of Charlottetown so not
too remote but comfortably away from the "big city". Being on the
Northumberland Strait, the water there is reportedly the warmest north of
Florida due to the protected shore areas (protected from the Gulf of St.
Lawrence and the north.

You'll love PEI --- it's another world that is very appealing. Be sure to
visit the Anne of Green Gables area on the North shore arpuind Cavendish.

I have only been in PEI once. Inland it was amazingly similar to
the Niagara area where I live, rolling hills and farms. We had
trouble finding accommodation and ended up in a campground at
Cavendish Beach where I encountered the worst case of mosquitos I
had seen in years.

Default Prince Edward Island in July

Thanks mdrawson for the info. We will be very close to Pownal. My
children (and my wife and I for that matter) will enjoy the warm water.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Lake Superior) also was a BIT nippy
to swim in, so it will be nice to have warmer water this coming year.

Anyone out there know how the freshwater fishing is at PEI?

Thanks again.
