However, for those of us who don't, it's actually quite useful, and
was rather cheaper than getting (for instance) a Vyper just for the
depth logger. | |

I could be tempted. Having switched from the user friendly
Aladin log to the user hostile VR3 something with a published
interface rather appeals.
....unless somebody has a VR3 spec so I could put it straight
into PocketPC which is my dive trip computer of choice these
days.

The published interface was also a factor since they don't support
either Linux or Solaris -- thus I spent an afternoon coding and all was
well. | |

So has anyone managed to produce any IR-compatible VR3 software for the
PocketPC? | |

Strange I see that as an advantage. (I carry a Uwatek depth/timer
in preference to a watch with scuba functions.) A seperate item to
do logging seems a sensible solution and if I can put a simple PPC
log round it it would be worth the effort.

And I in turn was only speaking for myself and intended no criticism.
I just felt that a unit I actually quite like deserved some defense,
whilst I fully appreciate it's probably of no use to you whatsoever.
I was just saying that in my position it was of use. | |

But where do we get the spec?

That's why you're action man and I'm the geek.
Live with it.
