A local said it isn't deep enough, when I made the same suggestion.

Last time I enquired I was told there was a maximum draft restriction of 4ft
6inches.

Moo! Snort! Excuse me while I tear that red rag to shreds.
No, it isn't always springs at Easter, but it so happens that in 2008
it is. Easter is on 23rd March, springs are on 22nd or 23rd.
Easter is not the *Sunday nearest* that full moon (which would put it
between half a week before and half a week after full moon). It is
the *first Sunday after* said full moon, so it comes between 0 and 7
days after full moon. Springs are typically 2 days after full moon.
Neaps are (call it) 7 days after springs.
Hence we can say that it will never be neaps at Easter, but it can be
pretty close, because Easter basically falls somewhere between 2 days
before springs and 2 days before the following neaps (or springs are
between 5 days before and 2 days after Easter).
Easter 2007 was on 8th April. Neaps were on 11th April.
Our friend was planning to go in "mid marts", not necessarily *at*
Easter, but whenever his Easter holidays start. So the tide could
be doing anything. The weekend nearest the middle of March is one
week before Easter. That's neaps.

Thanks Reverend Raygun! Of course, Easter includes 2 days before
Easter Sunday and continues one day after it but your point holds
true.

A question: (and I will remember to use my PC spell and grammar book :-))
We would like to invite a sailor with us on the journey from Ardrossan to
Inverness - all expenses paid (i.e.. transport, food etc.)
We are leaving around the 16. of march and will go trough as quick as
possible but rely on 3-4 days..
For more information read here or email me
IWe have one who has paid interest, but he is'nt certain yet, so we vould
like to hear from another who might be interested - if nessecary we will
make a list :-)
Have a nice weekend
