Default Old foam backed cabin lining - adhesive?

My 24yr old Jeannaeu's cabin lining foam back is crumbling and will not
adhere to the hull. I have tried all the heavy duty spray on adhesive with
only very limited success.

Is there a paint on adhesive that will be more successfull?

This is driving me even more mad than usual - help will be appreciated.

Have you no taste? If you're going to line with nice ply panels, they
should be varnished, not covered up with ugly vinyl.

Were you trying to stick the *original* crumbly foam back on?
It will never work, because the foam will just keep disintegrating
more. It has had a good innings but has now perished and needs to
be got rid of. It is no more. It is ex-foam.

It seems to me you need to scrape off all the crumbs from both the hull
and the lining material, and then either glue the lining direct to the
hull (not a good idea), or put some new foam inbetween (hard work). It
may be easier just to scrape the crumbs off the hull and discard the old
lining altogether, replacing it with new foam-backed lining, or carpet
tiles, or cork tiles.

Or just sand it down and paint it.

They don't. They fall off. At which point "leak" is rather an
understatement. Still, at least you sail in a country where "sinking"
means "moving vertically down by two feet".

Like I did. Easy, cheap and looks fine, unless you look too close. It took
ages to clean the old foam 'bits' off with the chisel but was worthwhile.

Out of preference, would do it again, and use the same paint which is water
based, cheap (From Wilko/Wilkinson) and has lasted 2 seasons without any
complaint.
