You seem only to be concerned about noise to yourself, what
about your neighbours? I have had otherwise pleasant
anchorages in the Med. ruined by noise from on-board
generators, usually from floating gin palaces with heavy
power demands.
What about wind generators and solar panels instead - I have
both and find them enough for normal needs when linked to a
substantial house battery bank. The wind generator (Wind X
Marine, up to 400W) whistles a bit in a strong wind but no
one (and I've asked around) finds it a problem, including
myself on board.
