I only know about the Brussels-Frankfurt ICE-3 service. Seats will
show GGF while the train is being prepared for departure.
Unfortunately, by this time passengers are often embarking, and
looking for their reserved seats. After the software loads the
reservations, most of the GGF indications will be replaced by
reservation indications, or by a blank display if the seat is
unreserved. Some seats near the end of each carriage will keep
showing GGF for the entire duration of the journey. Conversely, seat
106 in coach 31 - right at the back - is never reserved and never
shows GGF. That's where I usually sit. IME - happy to be
contradicted.

Does that involve DB staff plugging in a laptop while the train is
stood at the platform? I don't know how long the unit had been in the
platform when I boarded the 17:59 at 17:52. I'm sure all the seats
still showed GGF at 17:56.
