Exeter to Littlehampton and return

First Great Western still run the odd one or two trains to Brighton and
I believe there are still advance fares available. I don't think the
advance fares are available for connections. So a ticket to Westbury,
change to FGW to at least Southampton or Havant (or Chichester) and
another ticket to Littlehampton might work out cheaper!

I do know that fares from the south coast to Exeter are really
confusing. There are lots of routes and all the ticket prices are set by
different companies. When I was looking for Bournemouth to Exeter I
couldn't even find an "any permitted" route ticket.

For this journey the choice of route to get the best fare may depend on who
the passenger is. The passenger concerned in this thread is a student, so
presumably holds a YP railcard. But for someone not entitled to any other
railcard, a Network Card gives discounts on routes via Honiton but not on
routes via Taunton and Westbury.
