The last use I saw for Ribble sidings was to store the works trains
for the forthcoming Blackpool to Manchester electrification which was
cancelled at the very last minute. The trains were towed away and
scrapped. Could it be they are going to start again where they
finished:-)
Cue Tony Polson with a thousand reasons why not:-)

I noticed that. I went past them southbound yesterday morning and
spotted men with industrial grade chippers working, and when I came back
in the evening the area was cleared (though there were still stumps in
the ground).

I failed to see any connection from the overgrown sidings to the current
running lines - are they connected at all?
