Default wasted fuel at Nottingham

It still amazes me that Emt still leave all their engines running whilst the
London trains linger in Nottingham station I know they have aircon but they
don't LET the passengers on to enjoy it !! Come on Emt sort it and lets get
back to a peaceful station

cheers

Mike

Assuming the circuitry would allow battery charging via those cables.
Only enough power would be needed along the ETH cables to keep the
battery topped-up on the loco that is shut down. The heavy starting
current would come from the local battery.

Not to mentioned filling the air with exhause fumes the whole length of the
train. Plus get too close and you get a lung full of really hot air which I
assume is the exhaust. HST's were much more pleasent to board. No wonder
Nottingham is so noisy now as there are far fewer HST's and a lot more
Meridians!

Another of the 'benefits' of a non-electrified DMU railway. Reading
is barely tolerable today - imagine if it were served only by 16x and
22x!
