Certainly not the FDNY. They had *one* Deltic-powered 'superpumper',
but they got rid of that years ago, it's now in the hands of a
collector.

Mike (former Deltic-basher, now firefighter in NY!)

(And I'm not entirely without funds - I can't believe a Deltic is
being effectively sold for scrap! Does no-one want to keep it
running?!)

That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Certainly made me
smile, while reminding me why I don't lurk on wnxx forums...

Harry Needle is a d*mn sensible business man, and just what is needed
to keep the preservation movement on it's toes, and in spares for the
next couple of generations.

At present he seems to be the only person who can make a business
involving heritage traction pay. I don't blame him for having the odd
toy to play games with.

Alternatively, anyone got a spare 16CVST? Or a couple of 18-cylinder
Deltics with turbo chargers*? Time to start looking in those garden
sheds.
