Default Buffer Stops Anyone?

I wonder if anyone has created a databse with photos of the variety of
buffer stops to be found on the railways. These range from the huge
hydraulic stops say at Ealing Broadway or Paddington, down to a simple
pile of sleepers at the end of a disused siding. Some were made from
the disused rails themselves. There seems to be enough varieties out
there to keep any train enthusiast buffer stop spotter busy for
decades. CJB.

I remember the hydro ones on P6&7 at St Pancras although I don't recall them
being mounted on concrete.

IIRC for many years the hydraulic buffers at Waterloo were closed
in ... until the week right after the 1991 Cannon Street accident when
an EDL was utilised to pull them all out one by one with a large
chain.

Yes, it is enough on some locations on SR to make a difference to an
8/10/12 car platfom served by 8/10/12 car EMU of Sub or SR type EPB/
Hap stock with intra unit chain couplings which is shorter compared to
a similar train of BR EPB/Hap stock with intra unit buckeyes. I'm not
sure this was an issue at Waterloo but it might have made the
difference in increasing a margin of error for stop marks of full
length trains.

These odd cm do make a difference. Today on the central side, 4x456 is
not allowed normally in passenger service as there are a couple of
locations where that extra inter unit couplers makes the train to
long, yet a 455+2x456 is OK. Battersea is one such station ISTR.

Pulling out the buffers at Waterloo was an immediate action following
Cannon Street, I remember them doing it.
