I'm aware of the LMA stuff. But what I'm currently after is the BR
records of the job:

Why was it done?
Why was it done *then*?
How much did it cost?
What happened to the data once it was delivered from LEO?

See various books by Michael Bonavia, and also, espcially:

Gourvish, T. R. (Terence Richard), 1943-
Title British railways, 1948-73 : a business history /
T.R. Gourvish ; research by N. Blake ... (et al.).
Cambridge : Cambridge University Press, 1986.

Fantastic. I'll stick that on my list of stuff to run down. Many thanks
for the tip.

FWIW, I have now transcribed the whole of the interview with Roger
Coleman (the LEO programmer who solved and implemented the BR problem).
I don't know what group etiquette is about posting PDFs so if anybody
wants a copy let me know.
