Default Royal Train ten minutes late

The Queen and her party were kept waiting on the platform at Hornbeam Park
station yesterday when the Royal Train was ten minutes late.

It is thought to be the first time this has happened according to the
papers.

Although this may well be the first time that HM has been kept waiting for
the arrival of her train, there have certainly been occasions when it has
been delayed en route, including an occasion when the loco failed on a
journey from Sandringham to liverpool Street, and another time when running
out of Euston the Royal Train became trapped behind another train whose loco
had run out of fuel.

Not such a rare occurrence for her subjects. Vaguely recollect the
Royal Train being late into Glasgow Central on one occasion with the
Queen being reported as fizzing a bit because of the knock-on effect
on her schedule of visits.

Presumably the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway managed to have their Royal
Train on schedule when visited by the Duke of Kent a couple of days
earlier. It is reported that the locomotive displayed the Royal Headlamp
Code.

I had not realised that they painted the coal white on Royal Trains.
Presumably they use bottled water from Prince Charles' shop as well :=)

That's a new one on me! However, perhaps the K&WVR have a military man
on the board who gave the usual instruction: "If it moves, salute it. If
it doesn't, whitewash it!"

Is it known what kind of ticket she was travelling on? What were
her options?

Warrants aren't "valid for travel" are they ?
