From time-to-time I have joined in choruses of lamentation about FGW's
performance. When they're good, they're very, very good, but when they are
bad they are horrid.

Credit where it is due, I've had three return journeys (two London, one
Reading) in the last couple of weeks and all trains ran, were to time, all
facilities (PA, doors, sockets, buffet etc.) were properly functioning and
TTIs (a.k.a. Revenue Protection) in evidence. Let's hope they keep it up.

Not sure what their 'official' performance is? Has anyone else noticed an
upturn in performance?

Patrick

Agreed, I've had quite a number of London trips (Bath - London and
Westbury - London) that were certainly on time etc.

However, the local services (in my experience of Trowbridge - Bristol)
still suffer from delays, cancellations, short sets, overcrowding etc.

So, they still have a lot of work to do there in my experience.

And I do wish they'd get around to spending the money on the Westbury
PIS! It's painful watching how much of a muddle it can get itself into!

Cheers

Exactly. The local trains were a nightmare before, clearly just changing
the name and applying new colours to the stock wasn't going to improve
things overnight. Have noticed a lot more of the Portsmouth-Cardiff
services seem now to be 3 car which is a vast improvement. Here in Devon
though we've now got the god-awful Pacer units to contend with... can they
not extend the Exmouth branch through to the sea and run them all off the
end?

However, a few tables seem to have disappeared! :-(

Does FGW have something against groups sitting around tables?
