Nobody hurt, fortunately, but various locos and stock blocked in at
Oxenhope. Keighley - Settle Junction steam specials all had to be cancelled.
However, congratulations to K&W.V.R. for managing to run between Keighley &
Haworth to an emergency timetable, with 3 (reduced formation) train sets and
several locos.

They were hoping that a full service should operate on Sunday (29 June),
although Rail-Gen reports that the Keighley - Settle Jn shuttles will be
diesel hauled due to problems with 30777 tonight.

Now confirmed by the KWVR website, unfortunately. A shame when the
KWVR do small-scale so well that their biggest event of the
anniversary year should have one problem after another.

Was I the only one to be amused by the duplication of this post (on
Google Groups at least) in view of Jeremy's surname?

Well, it looks like my old dad had a bad day all told - he should have
stayed in bed.

They arrived at Keighley to be told of the problems, but elected to stay on
and make the most of the shortened services using the available and unusual
coaching stock (no shortage of locomotives though).

Then he advises me that the evening steam special to Ribblehead failed
en-route and they had to wait for a diesel from Hellifield to rescue them
and drag the train back to Keighley.
They then got on a Northern service to Leeds which got caught up in a signal
failure somewhere around Shipley and took over an hour longer than planned
to get them back into Leeds.
As he's getting on a bit and by this point it had been a very long day, he
decided to get a taxi home from Leeds station, only for the taxi to break
down as it passed Leeds town hall!

They had planned to go back on the Sunday when the KWVR were planning to
operate a normal service, but gave it up as a bad job!

Dave
