Default Disruption at Chippenham

My mother, who rashly accepted my assurances that travelling to London
by train was the best bet today, is reporting all london bound
services cancelled for the next few hours. We are travelling ourselves
in a couple of hours. National rail is not giving any reason for the
disruption. Does anyone know what is causing this?

If you look at the First Great Western website you will see comments
about over- running engineering works causing trains not to stop at
Chippenham.

Thanks for that - there is no mention of an overrun at National Rail.
Is it just me or is the railway starting to get a bit coy about
overruns? The trains from Chippenham seem to be settling down - in
fact everything is shown as on time. Hopefully Bristol has reopened.
Meanwhile, my mum and sister have made their way to Swindon in an FGW-
paid taxi.

TOCs are getting tardy about notifying National Rail website of
disruption in general.....
Always best to first check the TOCs website.
