there was a Network Rail woman on Radio Leeds at 0645 saying that water
was running so high underneath a bridge north of Doncaster that it was
now unsafe so there would be no Leeds-London KX trains till the water
went down.

At 0710 the screens on my local station, Burley-i-W were showing all
trains on time.

The there was a local councillor from Ripponden on Radio Leeds about
0720 who made my blood boil - she had checked the GNER web site at 0500
to find all was running OK, so had driven from Ripponden to Wakefield to
find no London trains, so had driven on to Leeds, likewise, and she was
furious with GNER that they had not had the info on the web at 0500....
so seeing the Radio reporter on the station, she pounced for a bit of
gratuitous railway bashing.

Surely anyone who is a councillor should have the gumption to realise
that if Leeds station is flooded, as all the news programmes said last
night, that the best way to get to London would be via Manchester (which
might well be the best way normally anyway), and even then why drive to
Leeds when it would be easier by train in the first place. BAH!!

Glad to get that off my chest!!

Yes - the Kirkstall flooding has stopped everything out of Leeds
heading towards Apperley Junction & Shipley. Bradford Forster Square
to Ilkley and Skipton are running, as are the Carlisle & Morecambe
lines north of Skipton.

Transpennine Express are still running between Huddersfield and Leeds
via Bradford. There seems to be confusion over whether these services
are calling at Huddersfield or not. Metro seems to think they are
diverting from Stalybridge, can anyone confirm?

The online departure boards at Halifax and Bradford don't show any TPE
services and the Huddersfield one just has lots of 'No Report'

Is the flooding at Dewsbury itself?

River Calder has burst its banks at Mirfield.
TPE calling at Huddersfield then to Leeds via Brighouse, making
additional calls at Halifax and the Interchange.

Default Yorkshire Flood Problems

Just checked the Live departures boards on National Rail - I am trying
to get to Malton

Malton and Scarborough boards say the line to/from York is closed, the
York arrivals board shows the next train from Scarborough having
departed there on time.....

shall I risk it???

I suspect now isn't the time to put in another planning application to
build on the Common.

Ooh, our house is on the Hull Daily Mail website :-/

Unless it's a plan to build an ark

There's nothing about calling at Halifax tomorrow, just Bradford
Interchange.

Could Halifax and Bradford Interchange take a 9-car set? Halifax could
fit 6 cars in? How about platform 1 at the Interchange?
