Perhaps they don't show the ones that the TOC(s) prefer to ignore.
(Cue the return of long debate about the justification or otherwise of
tooling up to cope with one-day surges in demand).

Provincial beer festivals now count as 'major events' do they? Yet no
mention of the Great British Beer Festival, the biggest one in the country,
by far, at Earls Court in August. Every year it's mayhem on the Willesden -
Clapham service for much of the afternoon and evening. Moving it from
Olympia to Earls Court hasn't lessened the impact on the overground services
due to the numbers of people travelling from out of town, for whom LUL
services are not really a solution.

Exists and is quite well patronised by RAF trainees. The service pattern
is now either all stations to Shrewsbury, or Wellington and Shrewsbury
only, but until quite recently there was the odd train which did
Cosford, Wellington and Shrewsbury. In fact IIRC it's part of the WSM
proposal for their trains to serve Cosford. The Arriva farce to which
Derek referred was in connection with the annual Cosford air show last
year which is, I imagine, Shropshire's largest spectator event (I think
the V fest is just in Staffs but ICBW). Cosford also hosts the Aerospace
Museum, and now the Cold War Exhibition. Sadly it lost out to St Athans
recently as the new site for a national training defence centre.

So there you are. I'll give Ian Jelf his hat back now :-)

I wonder if the unofficial whistle code for "Assistance by Military
Police Required" still exists there?

R.
