Default Walk over Ribblehead Viaduct

used to be no speed restriction between Hellifield and Carlisle below the

They wanted to let the viaduct deteriorate until that gave them an
excuse to close the line.

Which they did by not bothering to renew the waterproof membrane
beneath the trackbed for starters - many of the subsequent maintenance
issues stemmed from that (and the water/frost damage that resulted).
