| | Guest | SWT London Waterloo 2120 - West of England line Mon 22nd Jan Was wondering if anyone can help. Have tried to go to SWT website but
it appears to be down (too much traffic) and also looked on
NationalRail.co.uk for help but I couldn't find anything.
Have a megatrain ticket from Waterloo to Yeovil Junction for Monday
22nd Jan on the 2120 Service out of Waterloo. My ticket claims that the
arrival time in Yeovil is 2353.
I actually get off at Sherborne so checked the arrival time there on
TheTrainline.com but found that the train terminates at Gillingham
where passengers are put onto buses for the rest of the journey.
I was wondering....
a) if this is correct
b) is my ticket is incorrect
c) whether you think i'd have any luck trying to wangle my way on to
the 2020 service (which doesn't appear to involve buses) and arrives in
Yeovil Junction before my bed time.
Would pleading that at the time I bought the ticket it was advertised
for 2353 arrival - a time which I could just about reasonably ask a
friend for a lift home from the station - and the now advertised bus
arrival time of 0043 time is of no use to me - likely to get any
sympathy from the bods at Waterloo?
Thanks in advance. | |

'Runtime Errors' - the butterfly effect of a bit of wind I suppose.

All you have to do is write the Megatrain code number in your diary,
say, but 'accidentally' change 2120 to 2020. In my experience the
conductors barely glance at it. Easy

Nice idea, but there are only 3 (sometimes 2) trains a day on the West
of England line which are eligable for Megatrain tickets. The 2020,
sadly, not being one. So unless the guard was particularly tired, or
thick, I don't think they'd buy it.

Aha. Memo to self - put brain in gear before activating finger.

They are still selling seats for that service, even my PDA journeyplanner
knows it's a Bus from Gillingham.
BTW. MegaTrain don't do tickets to Sherborne.

They don't do tickets for Sherborne, but then there's nothing to stop
you getting off at Sherborne. As opposed to say getting off at Clapham
Junction where you need to have a ticket to get through the barriers.

So you are knowingly intending to defraud Megatrain? There's nothing to
stop any rail staff reading this (they do, you know) from finding out
your real name, like I just did (Hint: Garmin) and making sure the
conductor helpfully puts you on the right (fast) bus that takes you
where your ticket is valid for...
Really smart folks don't use Google Groups to boast how clever they are
AND flog GPS gear. | |

I'm not sure that vacating your seat one stop early really counts as
fraud. | |

I think we all know that, but does it /really/ constitute fraud? - just
because they (Megatrain ie Stagecoach) haven't felt a commercial need
to include more than a few stations in the scheme. They've taken the
money, that's what they're interested in.
