Default FCC peak hour restrictions - Economical with the truth

It's not that new. Merseytravel always had a 1600-1800 peak
restriction on CDRs within their boundaries. It no longer applies to
the electric lines, but I think it remains on the City Lines, and it
still applies to Saveaway day tickets.

Can those same journeys also be made by an Intercity operator (with a
relevantly valid ticket)? For example, is there an Intercity operator on
the Lime St-Wigan route, whose trains might be protected from
overloading by an evening peak period ban on savers?

[Anyway, I have to admit I was mainly referring to the old InterCity
lines radiating from London.]

Not any more, no; there was CrossCountry Express but only 2 trains a
day, and I don't think they were any more or less restricted than the
locals.

There is still an outward CT service calling at Hunts Cross in the
morning peak and return in the evening, but that doesn't typically
carry a lot of passengers from Liverpool to Hunts Cross or vice-versa,
as they'd use the electrics anyway.

Simple question from a newcomer who's not been following all the
intricacies - the Thameslink route obviously needs the extra 319's
(watching the crush at Blackfriars would convince anyone of that!), but
what will Southern get to replace them?

Is suspect that they probably think that 'cascade' is a charity event to
raise funds to send beer to Africa. ;-)
