Two problems with that idea, I think. The first is that the track is
hard up against the southern side of the tunnel at the station
(western) end before veering gently into the middle of the space.
That is the result of the present two tracks through the station being
what were the down through and platform lines.
The second is the problem of how to attach such supports to the inside
of the curved segments without compromising the strength of the
segments by drilling holes and so on. Perhaps steel verticals with
horizontal ties at the top?
And what happens when the 4-track space is needed for 4 tracks?
