Default Rail V Road (again!)

Why does this Government bang on about about reducing road traffic,
yet when there is a chance to possibly re-open a line (or two) they
will not attempt to fund the re-opening/upgrade unless it's to be
converted to a road!?
Visited my Daughter in Cambridge last week. had to go to the Science
Park I see that the St Ive's line runs almost through the middle of
it,(all still in situ, well a few trees in the way!) and could be used
for traffic to/from the park both Freight and Passenger, but no, they
want a guided busway yet another golden opportunity missed, bit like
Dunstable to Luton

Surely then if Dunstable buy the tracks, and Luton buy some guided buses
(lets call them Pacers, if you like) everyone will be happy!

Sorry, I forget, Pacers are only allowed in the Northern parts of the
network.
