Default HST guards office

As i understand, the guards office used to be in the rear of the power
car(s) but now they seem to have them in one of the Mk3's at the rear (or
front) of the train.

Did they stop useing the office in the rear of the power cars becuse of the
noise from the engines or was it somthing else??

Yes, very on probably late 1970's (HST introduced on GW in 1976)
This results in there being only ONE exit for passengers from this coach
Can catch pax out if they are slow or with luggage before train is ready
to depart or joining pax enter first.
