Yes, it would, but only if you join the train at Pontarddulais.
Boarding at Port Talbot Parkway involves doubling back.
However, there is no service from Swansea that would get you to
Pontaddulais in time to catch the special. So, for this particular
train, one could reasonably argue that a Swansea-Port Talbot
Parkway-Llandrindod journey would be acceptable.
The worst case scenario is that you would be asked to buy an SDR
Swansea-Port Talbot. These specials are usually "well gripped", but
the ATW revenue protection staff tend to apply common sense. If you
explain there was no connecting service from Swansea except via Port
Talbot, they'll accept it.
