Default Level crossing collision in Cornwall

For the record: The train was 1C25 1106 Paddington-Newquay & the power car
with a 'very crumpled nose' is 43028. Small fuel leak, front bogie
completely derailed & tractor pushed 30 odd feet up the line. News reports
have implied it was at an un-barriered road crossing. Not so, it was at
Chapel Farm No 3 occupation crossing which is apparently fitted with a
telephone to Goonbarrow signalbox. Tractor driver should therefore have
checked it was ok to cross before attempting it. You can make your own
assumptions up as to what is likely to have happened......

Yet another road traffic accident involving a train. When will
motorists learn.

If you look at National Rail's website there is at least one bridge
bash reported per day.

There have been some.which have been mentioned on uk.r recently. In
particular, one on Coastway, where a crossing keeper became confused,
assumed the train had passed (the indicator showed 'train on line' until it
reached the next signalbox), Restored the signals to danger after the train
had passed the distant, and allowed road traffic over the crossing. The
train collided with a double-decker bus, which was set on fire. Another on
the Portsmouth Direct line, when a train Spaded and ran by the platform and
signal, colliding with a car on the ahb crossing. But in the vast majority
of cases it is the road user's fault.

Peter

This one is not proving that simple. Train driver is in the clear that much
is known. Assumptions do not add up to evidence.
