'Yes Tynemouth used to have lots of platforms. There were the two through
ones [in use with Metro]; and IIRC bays at all four "corners". I think
facing Newcastle there were 4 on the coast side and two on the other side.
Facing Whitley Bay there were two on the coast side and I think one on the
land side.

The timetable implies that both platforms are in use, e.g in the Winter
timetable simultaneous arrival and departure at 1907.
