Default Odd working at Reading

Whilst awaiting the 14.00 on platform 5 at Reading yesterday, I was
surprised to see, speeding through on the Plat 5 road, EWS 47778 with half a
dozen assorted mail vans and, at the rear, 67009 and 67019 dead in tow. Any
ideas?

Tony

Platform 5 is the Up Platform Loop. Why should any train speed through on
this line, rather than using the Up Main Line (which is the middle line
between platforms 4 and 5)?

Sorry! It used Patform 4, of course (but NOT the middle road).
