Connections being held

People often complain that connections aren't held. But here I am at
Lille being told that my London bound E* is being held for about 15
minutes to allow connections from a Bordeaux train. There is no
possibility that this time will be recovered later in the journey. So
we'll be arriving at Waterloo well after 10pm, with all the
ramifications that has for missed onward connections.

In early July, I was rather glad that SNCF did the same as due to Single
Line Working south of Tours I wouldn't have got back to London that night

People often talk rubbish too.

Scotrail, Arriva and Virgin have all held connections for me this year.

Not that I agree with the idea of holding connections unless there's no
alternative for at least 2 hours.
