Default Voyager Breakdown in Wigan

HI

On the National Rail site it looks like another problem with a Voyager
causing major disruption:

Broken down train between Wigan and Preston causing delays and short notice
alterations. The 07.20 Penzance - Glasgow Central has become defective
between Wigan and Preston.

17.40 The 07.20 Penzance - Glasgow Central is currently delayed by 190
minutes near Wigan North Western. Disruption continues.

18.30: The 07.20 Penzance - Glasgow Central is now running in excess of 240
minutes late. Railway has been temporarily closed in the area while
passengers are de-trained. Expect further disruption

Why in 4 hours can't they somehow get it moving at least to the nearest
station?

Andrew

Not on the BNS<->Southampton route if my recent experiences are
anything to go by. Just as wedged as always. But that's not terribly
suprising considering that the previous HSTs/LHCS with more carriages were
also often wedged.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if I used the railway's "replace
old long train with short new one" policy on the networks I help look
after. I can see it now, "Hmm, this 100Mbps Ethernet link is getting
congested. I'd better swap the switch for a nice new 10Mbps hub".
Would the network users go away? :-)
