At first I thought that 1 side was odd and one Even but this was not
correct. Why not remame platform 15 to platform 14. Does anyone know
what will happen to platform 2 when the Mail Trains stop?

Probably for the same reason as there is no Platform 5 at Cardiff - It was a
bay and has been filled in.

London Bridge was unusual until it was renumbered around 1974, as it had no
number 5, and never had - at least since Victorian times. Until the early
1950s there was a Number 5 through line, but this was abolished when
platforms were lengthened for the 10-car scheme.

To maintain consistency that all east-end platforms are odd-numbered.
