Default Rail-Sea through fares to/from Britain

    Dear all,

Are Rail-Sea through fares still available on Britain-Continent (apart
than NXEA+Stena+NS), Britain-Channel Islands, Britain-Isle of Man and
Britain-Ireland journeys? If so, where can one get them and which
    conditions apply?

    Thx for any tip.

    Phil

No one's mentioned the Dutch Flyer tickets - from any NX East Anglia
station to any Dutch station via Harwich. Used about 18 months ago -
excellent value, good connections (apart from being on a packed commuter
    service back into Liverpool Street).

When I tried to persuade my son to consider Rail+Sea for a trip to
Ireland, SailRail failed at the first hurdle - their booking horizon was
a matter of a few weeks.

So, the passenger wondering whether to take Rail+Sea has to wait until
after the cheap air deals have gone, to find out whether Rail+Sea turns
    out to be viable/atttractive.

Not clever. International travel is more likely to be fixed well ahead
than domestic travel, and Rail+Sea is competing with airlines whose
pricing engines reward early booking. If Rail+Sea wants to be a serious
contender, they need to do some serious work on offering firm prices and
timings more than a few weeks ahead.

In January, I had to go to Dublin at short notice, I went to the
Travel Centre at Watford Junction(which is now closed) to enquire
about the through ticket and I was sold one for later that evening for
£29. Very good value as a flight was nearly £200!
